Over a month since I last posted, there's so much to fit into one post! Enjoy the photos and journey!

I’m not even sure where to start!  I enjoyed the company of so many talented and capable volunteers this summer and have a few sticking around into fall.  Madison Martin, Julia Thomas, Carleigh Hiller, Alyssa Owens, Lauren DeLuca and Alex Gautreaux helped make things run as smoothly as possible with a full house. In early July the Primarily ‘Possums inhabitants got down to under 30 but quickly soared again to nearly 50. The two cuties pictured here are Lily and Lionel who came in at the end of May and we released back where they were found last week, at Black Rock Mountain state park.  Thank you, Hadjidakis family for bringing them here when they found them, and then picking them up to release back home.

This little guy, at Debbie and Matt Amell's, immediately found a tree to climb.
There have been some amazing release sites this year, I appreciate all the people who have welcomed the opossums with open arms!
Marshmallow immediately skedaddled when he was released at a nearby state park.
This is just one of the many magical release sites.
There were many hidey holes along the creek bank for these babies.
Meanwhile, back at home, everyone just hung out waiting for the sun to set and the air to cool.
More kids hanging out.
One of the second season babies, Job has a sunny disposition.
Little Jug is so much bigger now, but he was a very adorable baby only one month ago.
Monkey shows off how he got his name! He has also grown so much in just a month.
Penny is another little friend here, but since this photo was taken she has been moved outside to grow into a fine young lady.
Here's Penny and Little Jug when they were even smaller!
Yummy!
Laundry Room Linda loves the addition of banana chunks in her dinner.

All babies start here on the same diet- a milk replacer of one variety or another.  I have been using a combination of Fox Valley brand and Esbilac milk replacers along with extra ingredients for 12 years but this year on the encouragement of other rehabbers, I am trying one from Australia.  The brand is Wombaroo and it’s made specifically for possums!  Yes, possums, not opossums, but close enough it meets their needs exactly.

Janie, who now works at Chattahoochee Nature center as an education ambassador, enjoyed her last few days with the babies (not her babies, she's still a juvenile).
Janie went on one last nature walk and met a branch she fell in love with.
"I want to marry this branch!"
This poor bat came in coated in motor oil after falling into a forgotten drain pan.
After many cleanings and brushings, he is back to being fluffy.
He's quite the handsome fellow now.
The second-to-the-smallest joeys here are in a littler named The Paolis, as they came from an area of the county called Paoli.
Little perfect fingers.
And perfect tiny toes.
Tee Too and his sister Too Tee are the smallest joeys, and smaller than I usually work with.
Fry is an older juvenile here who I am working with to encourage self-sufficiency after release. He isn't too curious about the world without his foster Mom and Dad around to make him feel safe, so it's been a challenge. Poor Fry.
Berry is a former patient who got a job at Chattahoochee Nature Center 2 years ago. I visited her when I dropped off Janie. She looks so good!

I still have 4 enclosures of 6 joeys each (The Overholser Kids, The Backstreet Boys and their tour manager, the Milnes, and Spanky/Manny/Buddy/Lilly/Maude as well as 2 smaller enclosures with 2 each, then the 8 in the incubator, the bat, and Penny/Job/Monkey and Little Jug inside.  The calls have slowed down but not stopped.  My birthday fundraiser raised over $1000 which will go to caring for the ones I will overwinter…for the next 7 months…which right now stands at 10.  Let’s hope it stays there!  Thanks for your patience between posts and thanks for reading!
