It was a good week here at Primarily 'Possums
There was time for a nice little Autumnal photo shoot
And some time for cuddles with friends
and lots of time for snacking!
A hummingbird came in after being trapped in a screened porch and caught by a dog. I did my best to help him, but they are so very delicate.
Three very crabby opossum juveniles got moved to an Excitingly Decorated outdoor enclosure
While two older juveniles had fun with some new hollow logs
Our friend Sandice Thrasher sent a fun video, with captions, of an encounter between one of the skunks I released at her property and a local juvenile opossum
The big news was a fantastic release of 7 opossums on some fancy lake front property! Thank you Mary and Deanna for hosting them and making sure they have enough to eat and safe places to sleep while they get their bearings.
Several of them immediately took to climbing the tall trees.
Here you can witness how an opossum climbs down his very first tall tree!
Youtube isn’t letting me embed it but you can view it here, and it’s worth a look:

Make sure to come back here after you watch it!
Mary set up her Ring camera and caught them snacking throughout the night (that is a Very Big Bowl, not a small opossum)
And what better send off than a nice mouse! They are proud members of Nature’s Sanitation Crew and keep our world free of rotting fruit, small mammals, insects and other things we don’t necessarily want lying around!
