Not a lot has happened in the last two weeks! But there always are a few things to share.

Mister Bat, who came here in July after falling into a forgotten oil drip pan, was released!  I gave him several gentle baths in mild Dawn dish soap, rinsing him well and drying him with the smallest bath towel in the world.  I made sure he had a miniature rubber ducky in the tub with him and he wore fluffy slippers while he relaxed afterwards.  Well, no, but I did brush him daily to help distribute his natural oils to replenish the ones removed during the bath.  He did a great job grooming himself, something I wish I could have recorded.  I have never seen a bat so thoroughly clean his wings!  He was a voracious eater and I made sure he was nice and fat before he returned to the wild.

Tee Too and Too Tee, the Too Tinies, are growing and had a little "day out" on the exam table.
They lapped a little formula...
and investigated the syringe and tube I have had to feed them with.
They had a little cuddle...
and then climbed back into their nest.
There are entirely too many bunnies here.
The Pendergrass 7 are growing.
And the Paoli 6 are too!
Our new friend Lauren brought us two miniature swimming pools her husband 3-D printed. They were perfect for a dried minnow photo!
Funny little Olly who was bitten in the head by a cat is healing but is a little brain damaged.
This was a fun event with over $350 raised for Primarily 'Possums. There will be another one in November. Gumbo, an opossum ambassador from Bear Hollow Zoo, was the star of the show!

For a very brief time I had a little raccoon kit here.  I am licensed for rabies vector species, which includes bats, raccoons, skunks and more, but have chosen to only work with bats.  This little guy needed help and had been with the finder for 2 days.  Of course I was going to step in and help!  He was so upset at first to be without Mama, and hungry and thirsty and, because his eyes were still closed, totally in the dark, but he soon calmed down and we had some special moments together.  He was transferred to rehabber Sharon Debois, who also took 2 of the groundhogs I had earlier this year.  Thank you, Sharon!  I am grateful for Georgia Wildlife Network and the volunteer transportation network who transported this little nugget from me all the way across Atlanta to Temple, GA.

I had planned to release at least 6 of the 17 opossums in pre-release enclosures but plans fell through. This week, however, I should be able to clear them out and focus on the ones who will be here for the next 7 months. I know, that's a long time! But by the time the release window closes at the end of October, they will still be too small. They will have to stay here until March. It's going to be a very long winter feeding, cleaning, and entertaining at least 17 opossums. My two birthday fundraisers netted $1600 which will go towards many grocery trips and housing needs. Next week I should have my act together enough to share the newest fundraising effort I have been slowly working on for uhh...a year? Thanks for reading!
