Baby bird growing up! Emergency snake surgery! Cute opossums!
A true fighting spirit
This little girl has seen some hard times and challenges and met them head on. After an accident involving a running wheel in her cage, she was paralyzed from the waist down. I immediately started anti-inflammatory medication and took her to my vet.
My vet said that with medication and time her nerves may regenerate and she could regain use of her legs.
After two weeks, but no change, I brought her back in hopes of other solutions.
Time, I was recommended was basically what she needed.
Soon afterwards, amazingly, she started walking, and even climbing! She is a little wobbly but is gaining more stability every day. She receives a variety of physical therapy techniques to help build her strength.
I’m so glad my veterinarian, the wonderful and compassionate Dr. Allene Phillips of Madison Animal Hospital, had hope and encouraged me to persevere.
The tiny unknown species bird (maybe a Chipping sparrow)
Little unknown bird came to me as a hatchling, just days old. Thank you, Seth Manus, for rescuing him, after he and his siblings fell from a nest high up in a tree. Sadly, his siblings did not survive.
At first his prospects were unclear. But this little wonder has thrived! Just look at the transformation in a week!

Emergency surgery for a Black Rat snake
Poor black rat snake! She ate a wooden egg placed in a nest box to deter the hens from pecking their own eggs. Not only did she have an egg stuck in her, she developed sores from trying to exit the coop with a large object inside her. She required emergency surgery to remove it.
Thank you, Dr, Allene Phillips of Madison Animal Hospita for making time for her and doing a fantastic job.
She made it through surgery just fine and is recuperating. Miss Snake is a gentle snake and takes her medicine well and mannerly. Here she is soaking in a heated, healing bath to keep her surgery site clean.
Of course we must have some cute opossum photos!
Little bun came in after being caught by a dog and is doing well. He is even eating on his own, unusual for a baby this size.
Angry Lady
Mama opossum, who came in after being caught in a trap meant for a feral cat and subsequently injured by the trap, has recovered. She was VERY angry, defensive and bitey. It turned out she had little baby beans in her pouch.
Now, full of good food and lots of sleep, she has been released to her home territory.
