A litter of 6, a litter of 5, Monkey, Fry, Linda, Andor and Pearl. That’s it! Oh, and a tiny 5 gram mouse. Fry has been released inside the fence around the enclosures. If he is motivated to leave, he can. However, he still sleeps in his nest box, runs on his wheel, and explores…
Primarily ‘Possums residents are down to 24! Baby season is officially over, at least for opossums. There are often a few bunny stragglers. However, I have several new volunteers to make life even easier, and groups of UGA students came to help out and learn what happens here. Catherine was especially delighted to meet an…
12 more opossums out the door and into freedom! I still have 9 or 10 more to release in the next week. There are 6 who may be ready to go by the end of October, but it may also be too late weather-wise. Five healthy bunnies! The group I released at the state park…
Not a lot has happened in the last two weeks! But there always are a few things to share. Mister Bat, who came here in July after falling into a forgotten oil drip pan, was released! I gave him several gentle baths in mild Dawn dish soap, rinsing him well and drying him with the…
Over a month since I last posted, there’s so much to fit into one post! Enjoy the photos and journey! I’m not even sure where to start! I enjoyed the company of so many talented and capable volunteers this summer and have a few sticking around into fall. Madison Martin, Julia Thomas, Carleigh Hiller, Alyssa…
Releases, babies, more babies, plans derailed and the start of second season. In order to get this out so at least one post gets published, I’m going to dump out a bunch of photos with descriptions. Not my best post. But it’s a post. I had a sweet baby skunk for less than 24 hours-…
I am grateful for Wade and Joan Sheldon, Guy Spencer, Claire Elrod, and Amber Stokes Torrent and Family for providing wonderful release spots for some of the first round babies. Thank you Tanya and Olivia for assisting! A nice hole under a log to peek out from. Doing some fancy balancing. Oops, that didn’t work…
A Tribute to Sarah Sarah arrived in March of 2025, blind, walking in circles, and with a pouch full of babies. She had a safe place here to raise them, warm beds, good meals catered to her ability to eat, and the best life I could give her. She never liked me. That’s ok, I’m…
I have been busy doing my job- taking care of animals. Feeding, cleaning, moving around, weighing, releasing, playing with, and everything else. Updating the database daily (but not the blog). Logging weights and making changes to formulas and diet. It’s been overwheming. I think I have 70 animals but I haven’t run today’s report. My…
What a very active February and just 2 weeks into March it’s stayed busy. I attended the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association symposium in Baton Rouge and learned so much, met new friends, and reconnected with old ones. It was an honor to attend, especially as a scholarship recipient, and to spend time steeped in the…
