Bunny time and more, September 9-15

Fall is coming soon, but the animals keep coming. That's ok, this is what I do!

Bunnies grow in leaps and bounds, literally!
First was one, then 5, then 6!
We are getting fat and round.
Lined up like little movie watchers.
Peeping.
So handsome!

I released the Rubies…well, one of them. Wait, two of them.  While refreshing their their food and water I found they had shoved and shoved until the wire on the door burst its staples.  Three were gone, and one was sleeping in a corner.  I released that one where his friend, Broccoli, was supposed to go (but Broccoli was one of the self-released).  It was especially fun because one of the Athens area Girl Scout troops attended the release.

Girl Scouts, parents and family members gathered on the stream bank to watch.
Tee hee! After my friends escaped I came back for the nice bed and snacks. But oh darn, Suzie captured me and I was released where my friend was.
The Left Behinds were taken to a soft release cage. There they will acclimate for 10 days. When that time is up, the doors will be opened and they will be free to come and go. The property owner will continue to supply fresh water and food.
They hate me, and everyone, and everything. Molly raised them right. The wheel is fun, though.
Some baby squirrels appeared. The majority of calls I have received about squirrels have led to happy reunions with Mama. All the squirrels have gone to another rehabber after triage and intake care.
They are pretty easy to raise, good eaters and affectionate.
They really do like people, even though we are so much bigger. If a baby squirrel ever runs up to you and hops on your foot or climbs on your leg, it needs help!
The inside Petal Pals moved to second step cages, joining the rest of the passel.
"I know I've got it good, wink".
"Whaaat???" The Currahee 7 moved to pre-release with mixed emotions.
There is much more to do in the "Possumary". Logs and branches to climb, so many places to hide, and even a wheel big enough for 2 to run on.

Primarily Possums is down to 15 opossums and 5 bunnies (one bunny has already been released). I saw one self-released Ruby in the scuppernong arbor. It makes me nervous knowing they could be anywhere, but I keep their previous cage open, food and water, and a game cam. I've only seen songbirds curious about the food, but maybe the other 2 will return. Hopefully the Currahee 7 will be released back at their home territory by October 28, and 2 Petal Pals are ready to leave. Tina, Berry, and 5 Petal Pals will overwinter. More photos and stories every week or as often as I can! Thank you, Rich, Sydney, Dawn for being an integral part of a successful, if stressful, summer. Thank you one-time or occasional volunteers, you help me so much! Thank you Patreon donors, finders who donate, and friends who spread the word and keep everything funded and running (sort of) smoothly. And of course, thank you for reading!
