June 2, 2025- June 29, 2025

After a lovely rainy spring, the flowers and the opossums are all out in full bloom. Some have been released, some are waiting, and some need a little more time.

Someone’s idea of staying cool looks rather uncomfortable.
Marzipan has an ice bottle and finds that back sleeping exposes the belly to cooler air.
Sarah also finds that sleeping on her back feels nice.
Sarah’s ridiculously cute babies are in their own enclosure now, and still being ridiculously cute
I don’t know why this litter all have goofy expressions but they do.
I have one bat right now, a juvenile Evening bat.
He’s really small, 6 grams, and can only eat mealworm innards.
Marzipan is a friend’s “porch possum”. He showed up after being missing for a month, very skinny and injured.
His wounds are nearly healed and the bald patches are growing fur again.
He’s a good eater and while I’m sure he is bored, he is getting fresh air, rest and good food in clean bowls.
The litter with Scarlet returned for a weigh in.
What a very long snoot you have!
Handsome and snootastic.
The litter with Maggie is in soft release. They are already good at both playing dead and looking fearsome.
They are very wild children.
I know you wanted to see more photos of Littler.
Ashley Kennedy takes the best photos of him.
He makes sure his tail is clean and wants you to admire it.
Solo June baby doesn’t fit in, so she is inside.
It must be fun to hang upside down from your hands and feet.
And now, a whole bunch of videos

Lyndon Tewksbury came one morning and we built a climbing structure for the juvenile opossums. Thanks, Lyndon and thank you, Rick!
Thank you for visiting the blog, I really have taken quite a break this season despite having opossums and bats.  I have time to cook food.  I have time to visit friends, tend a garden, and read books.  It feels good, but I also sense I am still in burnout.  Better to burn out and take action than to extinguish entirely.  Thank you all for your support while I navigate life.
